On behalf of the POST Academy's Edge Weapons Defensive Tactics Training conducted on Friday, August 14, 2009, I would like to thank you for taking time away fro your busy schedule to teach these young men and women of the 2009 POST Academy Personal Safety in defending themselves against edge weapon attacks. Your assistance and the information shared to those in attendance, both verbally and physically were greatly appreciated. The feedback we received from this class has been enthusiastic and positive. The evaluation sheets from the attendees were exceptionally high. It is through community spirit and concerned instructors such as yourself that these types of awareness programs can be offered to aid law enforcement personnel to better protect themselves in the line of duty. Linda, I wanted to thank you and Joey for the training the last year. Last weekend I was at a father’s day BBQ and someone who had a little to much to drink got in a fight. Shortly after I broke up the fight the guy went to his truck and pulled out a firearm. Being the closest one to him and utilizing what Joey had trained, I was able to disarm him immediately after he chambered a round. Out of all the people in the class I wouldn’t have dreamed it would be me who found themselves in this situation but Joey’s training came right out of me without my brain registering what I was doing. Mr. Walker is one the most talented practical martial artist I know. We are lucky to have him in our community teaching others how to protect themselves.

It was very nice meeting you yesterday and I would like to thank you again for your time. It was valuable insight for students to hear first hand from someone who has experience with the criminal and the justice system. The close up, physical contact was priceless for some of these ladies; feeling what it is like to be restrained or pinned. Some don't have brothers, participate in a sport or have an opportunity where they can get on the ground and wrestle with someone, practice breaking holds and choking someone out. I'll bet most have never seen 2 people wrestling on the ground together, let alone an actual fight! Thank you for your patience and good humor, the class was informative and enlightening for all.

Joey is a good, honest man with a good heart. He is one of the few people I would trust with my life and the lives of my loved ones. He cares.

Sensei Walker is one of THE greatest Martial Arts instructors I ever studied under. I learned so much in a short time! From awesome striking combinations, discipline and control, to philosophy on what it means to fight and how to conduct yourself on a daily basis. Joey Walker is a TRUE Martial Arts Master!

Joey Walker is my go to guy for so many areas of self defense. He is a retired police officer with all the experience necessary to deal with real world situations. He writes for USAdojo and he knows his stuff. I highly recommend training with him. I also recommend his book "Shots Fired" which will teach you techniques to help you survive an active shooter.
